February 12, 2013 at 7:41 am in reply to: In Melbourne looking for a fruitpicking job and possible buddy #5207Andy HumeParticipant
Whats going on people. I’m desperately looking for fruit picking. My Visa runs out the end of June so have to sort something out in a week. Im Andy, 26 from Ireland. Does anyone know of any good places that are hiring now. I’ll be on my own so defo up for making a few buddies along the way. My number is 0449172530 if anyone has any ideas. Nice one!
Maika Perron-JansenParticipantHeyy!
My name is Maika. I will be arriving in Melbourne next week and I would love to go on a roadtrip to look for some farmwork in the area! (One or two days?) I travel on my own and I don’t have a car. Wondering if anyone had the intention of doing the same and if I could hop in for the ride? (Of course gas and all that I would help with!!)
Otherwise, I thought of renting a car in Melbourne. My friend who lives in Melbourne would come with so she can bring back the rental if I find work and have to stay on the farm. Anyways if anyone is in the same situation as me and would like to share the fees, let me know!!
I can be reached on the internet (here) or at maika.perron@live.ca
Orrr by phone at 04-03262796
Cheers!
michael gordonParticipantHi, I’m 18, living in Ireland and i will be finished school in June this year and really want to go to Australia for a year working on the farms, the only obstacle i have is finding work, does anyone know how this works with regard to securing work, i dont know where to start. I am physically fit and used to outdoor work as i have a lot of farm animals myself. If anyone can give me some advice it would be much appreicated, thanks
Donovan GrahamParticipantI have done 5 seasons of Stripping and trimming and will be looking for this line of work when it comes in OZ until then I’am looking to help with a harvest, I have also done Apple/grapes picking, wire tucking, stone fruit and vine pruning, Netting, tractor operation, forklift, bottling,packing…..etc!
I lose my mind working on hourly rate so would like to work on piecemeal but will consider hourly rate given the type of work needing to be done.
Im a bit of a gun when I get going and am happy to help others get up to speed if I feel they will benefit, very easy to get along with and also good at leading a team.

Thanking you, Donovan Graham
