Interestingly enough, the first place I hope to go is the Stanthorpe area, which is on the border of QLD and NSW. It has a variety of crops and seasons, but mainly fruit-orchards and strawberry-fields. Also, there is more work than just fruit-picking. There are orchards that hire all year-round for thinning, pruning and general maintenance.
I’m not too sure where I will go after that, but my itinerary is a work in progress. (:
If you would like to communicate further about it, or receive more-detailed information about where I hope to go and what I hope to do, feel free to send me an E-mail: vinscript@gmail.com
Alternatively, if you’re on facebook, you can send me a message: http://www.facebook.com/VinnieMcgRegards and God bless,
Vincent
FreddieKeymasterYes is it can be really hard some times to find fruit picking jobs, depending on seasons and location.
When I wanted to extend my Working Holiday Visa back in 2008 (Long before communities like this and any source of online information about fruit picking). I ended up going to queensland with no information at all. Luckily I found an awesome French guy in a van :-) . Together we started our quest from Airlie beach to Bowen. After visiting various farms around the area for about a week, we got lucky.
How many farmers have you been talking to so far Billy?
jess mackayParticipantWe are located in Stanthorpe at the moment but have own transport and are flexible in where we work. We are looking for work to extend visa to second year.
